Even though I’ve already went on and on about the music I’ve enjoyed this year, I had to reserve a special article about the Idol scene in 2011. As far as I’m concerned, 2011 was really the year of the Idol. The wave may have started back in 2010, but it didn’t reach its full potential until this year.

We are nearing the end of the year, and it is time to do what everyone in the internet does: make lists. It’s time to look back at the bests and favorites of the year and think “Oh yeah that was pretty good, ha ha.” One thing that was a pretty huge hit this year was idol groups. It is AKB48’s thing now to blow away sales records, and so, they’ve done it again. One million sales are hard to reach now in Japan’s charts, and yet this group easily does so with their new single. See what I think of it after the jump.

Takahashi Ai is graduating from Morning Musume. If you didn’t already know that, this article probably isn’t for you to begin with. Even though my love for Morning Musume has long since waned (what with no Yossi, no Eri, no Pandas), I feel like this is really the end of the era. Without Takahashi, I can’t really see Morning Musume lasting much longer. But, I digress. With Ai-chan’s graduation comes, of course, the graduation single, Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun Da yo! (more…)

I got into the Idol game with Morning Musume. They were my first (they were gentle), but we’ve grown apart. The Momusu of today isn’t really the Momusu I knew and fell in love with. But recently, we shared some old times together. We’re gonna take the jump together, and rekindle a lost love.
