One of the few girl bands from Japan came through the West Coast recently for their first U.S. Tour. Starting up in Seattle’s Sakura-Con, Stereopony moved down the coast hitting stops at San Francisco, Los Angeles, and finally ending in Santa Ana. The trio imported their fast moving pop rock sound to American fans in the West for the first time. Check out the report after the jump.

Japan’s Biggest Group Blooms at the Capital
AKB48 Concert at Lincoln Theater, Washington DC
This year marks an important time in Japanese and American relations. It is the 100th anniversary of Japan’s giving of cherry blossom trees to the United States as a sign of friendship. Held in Washington DC, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is a month-long event encompassing everything Japanese; from food to tree planting to music. Otakon 2011: Chemistry at Opening Ceremonies, Autographs and Q&A
Chemistry is one of the top R&B acts in Japan. Formed in 2001, the duo consists of Yoshikuni Douchin and Kaname Kawabata. This year, Chemistry attended as one of the musical guests of honor for Otakon in Baltimore. JPHiP and nandake was there to bring you coverage of some of their activities.

Otakon 2011: Baby, The Stars Shine Bright & Alice and the Pirates Fashion Show
Although I am not well versed in the Japanese Lolita fashion scene, it cannot be denied that it has been making waves Stateside for quite some time, and at the forefront of that is Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. This year, they attended Otakon with their subbrand, ALICE and the PIRATES, bringing along designers, Masumi Kano and Mitsuba. JPHiP and nandake attended their fashion show.
